Currently, the association consists of 72 national sections and around 360,000 members (Ipa-international, 2020). On the other side, International criminal police organization which is commonly known as INTERPOL which is another international crime control and police cooperation organization in the world (Interpol, 2020).  Interpol provides their facilities to the 181 national central bureaus and 185 countries are members of this organization (Interpol, 2020). In the area of International crime control, there is a great importance of international police associations which signifies the needs of international policing to control the crimes of the world.

In the modern and contemporary world, the number of criminal offences is continuously increasing. It has been observed that from the past decades, the modern world has encountered a number of crimes where more people than one country are involved. Therefore, in this case, the needs of international policing are highly considerable in recent times.  In the research of Hoebing and Lapinski (2017), the roles and responsibilities of police have been discussed. Therefore, in the context of the author's view, it could be stated that the major need of international policing is to establish the safety of the world citizens and to ensure the proper maintenance of the world law for peacekeeping in the world. Jenkins and Casey (2018) stated the view about the needs of police international crimes and said that in order to control the global crime, involvement and cooperation of international policing is a major way. International police practice is maintained by following global rules and regulations, therefore, there is no chance of conflict between the countries. The case of where criminals are involved from more than one country, international policing is highly necessary there to solve the issue and to control the crime.

According to the view of Foradori (2018), in the case of a global criminal offence, international policing is highly needed to gather information from the countries in the investigation procedure. It is obvious that crime does not follow international borders and therefore, with the rapid improvement of technology, communication and other areas in the 21st century, the number of global international crimes has increased. For example, international cooperation is highly important in this area as rules and regulations of international policing vary from country to country. The most the initial problem that can affect in the cooperation is the terrorism cases, as most of the terrorism cases are the domestic or local problems, or political unrest, therefore, in this case, international policing is irrelevant. On the other side, the political offence of the countries is another restriction where international policing is not involved in most of the cases. However, otherwise, it could be stated that international policing is highly needed for countries to reduce the global crime rate.
