Diversity of Families and the characteristics of effective partnerships

INTRODUCTION

Families are one of the vital first prime educators who can guide and aim the children to continue to learning and development. It helps the children to understand the significance of the school career and apply knowledge far beyond. The purpose of the assignment is to understand how the diversity of families and the characteristics can help to build effective partnerships. Families are the first steps who are the active producers, consumers, and also aim to become the active disseminators of knowledge to influence and the lives and outcomes of children and young people. As observed, the children who have spent 87 percent of their learning during the school stages mainly have learned from their parents especially the family members and within the community (Ramirez-Andreotta, 2016). As per the Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Model, through the equal partnerships, it is necessary to have the teachers along with the child and family to be part of the system, which can further help to implement an effective partnership strategies as per the child requirements (Pletta,  et al, 2020). It is important to concur socio-cultural approach that can help to build effective partnerships to critically reflect ad further confront any biases, stereotypes and to face the prejudices and deficit views in accordance with the families and partnerships.

Overview of diversity of families within the society

Family diversity can follow the functional set up or the Marxist set up, depends as the orientation and how the nuclear family can also play a central role to inculcate the experiences in modern industrial society. Subsequently, the role of the diversity family can also be one of the key characteristics that can have the plurality, or diversity and can equally play a vital role in the household and family types that can further create a mark for the dominant or normal family type which has now become misleading. Initially, the typical family was perceived as the ‘conventional’ family which would be the nuclear families that consists of the legally married couples along with holding the key voluntarily holding on the parenthood of one or more children.

Rapport’s Five Types of Family Diversity

Based on the identity of the five types of family diversity, which consists of the identified five distinct elements

Organizational diversity

The diversity  consists of the variations in family structure, further includes the household type, and also represents the differences that can distinguish in accordance with the division of labor belonging to the home. For example, there is a key difference between the conventional families, and how the one-parent families along with the dual-worker families can be part of the partner's work. It is necessary to hold the type of diversity which consists of the reconstituted families, such as including the  divorce along with the re-partnering or remarriage that can help to address the organizational forms (Pearson, 2019).

Cultural Diversity

It is the diversity consisting of the significant variations by ethnicity, such as how the South Asian families, can include both the Hindu and Muslim (Ghosh, 2019). Further, there can be tendencies to represent the families based on the traditional and patriarchal, along with the extended families which would more likely to have the African Caribbean households and to identify the  matrifocal (or centered around the mother rather than the father),  that are likely to note the higher rates of single-parent families/

Class Diversity

The class diversity consists of the families that identify how there can be consequential differences between the working class and middle-class families and how the children can socialize (middle-class families that can also belong more pro-school) and understand the support-networks. It is necessary to have the working-class families that can be inclined based on extended family networks (having aunts/ uncles/ grandparents and part of the house) that are likely to have diverse families (Hart, 2019).

Life-course Diversity

The life course can have the children that can have the adult status and would have the life goals decisions.

Cohort Diversity

A cohort of individuals can identify as to how can be linked in between the historical events and can further help to note the influenced their family life (Hill, 2016)

Challenges, rewards, and strategies in developing partnerships

Families

In the family, there can be multiple implications and challenges from the teachers that can result in obstruction to absorb the knowledge by the children. The expert has to identify the child;s backgrounds in order to form a successful partnerships. The teachers need to know such cultural perspectives, as it is important to foresee as to how there can be the cultural advisors which can help to identify the strategies and how to correlate with the participation from families having a set belief, that can help to approach the parents and families (Koch,  2020) It is also important to include the teachers which would belong from the community and the teacher can provide an overview of the views or beliefs and help to narrow the gap in between the child and the teacher (Kumar, 2018). It is also essential to form partnerships that can further strengthen, challenge, perceptions, and also experience the complementary, other than the conflicting, subsequently, it is necessary to have the reverse forms, that can face the barrier. The strategies to have effective partnerships are formed with the effective communication and having a better collaborative relationship that can foster a better care relationship. It is also necessary to understand, the complications in creating effective partnerships, due to the low communications and understanding of the cultural aspects (Kostelecky, 2019). To overcome this challenge, the essential step would be either to engage the bilingual translator who can help in the code of communication and would help to understand what kind of complications one can bear as a consequence.

Communities

In the communities, apart from facing the diverse relationship, the problem lies in the maintaining the ‘traditional’ paradigm of partnerships, and also understand how there can be a better class of suggestions and expectations that can depend on the close needs and priorities of teachers.  It is necessary to face the disempowering along with the excluding parents’ and families’ that can further cover the children’s education. For example, the Whāriki has been viewed as one of the traditional paradigms that have further considered the shared expectations and to have the non-biased approach aimed for the partnership.  It is observed as how to form better community engagements in the partnerships, which can be based on the individual family differences, and it is necessary to have the one approach fits all. For example, the Māori can also experience the minority groups communities who have experienced failure in the education system are due to the difference. It is necessary to focus on the traditional paradigm that can work to bind on the actual reality of how parents and families along with the communities can be actively involved in the children’s lives (Kumar, 2019). The problems of the community can be the socio determining factors, which can be apart from the culture, the problem can be low-income group, high unemployment rate, facing the problem of the social disease problem and can face the problem of the compensating type view, The main challenge, is if the community has suffered in the past, the problem of how to handle the patents participation positively within the centers of the community. For this, again the teacher's beliefs, education system, and understanding the past and the present cultural elements, can be helpful to note a learning experience. It would be important to have engaging childhood experiences that can further help to create the set arrangements and would help to develop the parent/family involvement. Community with the partnership formats can be challenged with the low engagement on account of the poor communication strategies. It is important to have easy access for the teachers who can support the communities and the families to be actively involved. The importance of education can be centric to the center culture which would remain as one of the signed forces of the signaling to parents having set roles (Norris, 2018). Community engagements have also helped to overcome the problem of the bullying, and identify ways to stop the barrier to form the parent-teacher partnerships (Larson, 2020)

Partnerships
The partnership or the collaboration between the parent-teacher partnerships can help to draw a meaningful relationship for the children whose main essence of life is to draw meaningful learning. It is essential to form the children’s development and further to have the set of achievements that can further, help to improve and become successful learners (Norris, 2018). The partnerships can also help to reduce the fewer absences and it is important to succeed. It is also an important step for the longer-term benefits and it can include the steps to collaborate and have a higher academic level whether in the school or the home type education. The partnerships can help to form a better-identified way to crate the parent's involvement in the child’s education at school/center, and how does the child does better and can help to assist the children that can make the lasting educational gains and further can gain as a result of the milestone for the future. It is a benefit that can be drawn in relation to the partnerships formed with the family and with the community. It can help to deliver with the aspirations. To form the partnership that is effective to collaborate with the teachers that can connect with the home environment also have to make the parents reflect on the opportunity that can aim to bring in the home to serve the children (Pearson, 2019). The befit is the parent(s) confidence and how to support the children in such an environment. The challenge would be to win such trust and the problem can be over commended through effective communication.

Reflect Benefits of such partnerships

In my view, the benefits of such partnerships look more positive than the negative ones. It is important that during forming the collaboration and the partnership, to understudy where the student belongs, learn their socio-cultural determinants (such as lack of education, unhealthy food habits) and understand how to place the education strategically, that can keep the community engaging, It would be helpful to identify how there can be the partnership, that can be formulated with the positivities of the community support (Pletta, et al, 2019). The diversity of families within the society has an important role to play, such as the duty of educators that would empower all parents to recognize the active role and how the child’s education and work with the potential partnership role of the teachers with the children. The parents can experience a culturally appropriate manner and it is necessary to have partnerships with shared commitments. The importance of the commitments can help to obligate the centers (teachers) along with the parents/families to understand the complications placed during the learning and development of children. In my view, while it would be challenging to have a real partnership is the one that has to further share the families and centers share information, and it can be used to improve the overall perspective for each other (Pearson, 2019). The other conflict, is the establishment of the partnerships, due to the cultural conflicts and facing the barricades as to how there can be complications and problems while maintaining harmony (Norris, 2019)

Conclusion

To conclude, in order to have adequate educational settings for the child to pursue, the families can share responsibilities with teachers, community and form partnerships for the betterment of the children. Children can learn and develop with diverse partnerships from the family, educational setting, and through the community. It is an important step to have effective partnerships builds to include the teacher’s identification of the dynamics and diversity of families. The strengthening role within the families, with the communities and the organizations, can also affect and influence the young child's mind to a great extent. In an educational setting, it is important to aver the positive partnerships with families who can follow the family members' concerns and also adequately place the family contributions concerning the work setting which can further support the child's learning. It can be influential to create the decision making and can make it more successful in sustainable family connections.
